Pickled Cherry Peppers
This is a very aromatic and tasty pepper. The spiciness is low. Also known as Wiri, Hot Cherry, or Bird Cherry, the fruit belongs to a species of hot pepper known as Capsicum Chinese. The fruit is a 1/2” round pepper that turns from green, to orange, to red when mature. Abundant fruit is somewhat rare.
This is a pepper with a unique taste. Although its spiciness is low for a hot pepper, there is a very, very definite zing, heat and acidity when eaten. These qualities are perfectly balanced with a fruitiness and a kind of subtle richness in flavor. This balance of spiciness and fruitiness makes it among the best peppers for a condiment.
